India: DIPP wants strict compliance on procurement of local products
20 Nov 2018: The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) wants to amend the Public Procurement Order so that penal action can be taken against erring officials of procurement agencies of any government department if they include restrictive or discriminatory conditions against domestic suppliers in bid documents. The tightening of compliance is to give preference to products manufactured under Make in India for public procurement to push domestic industry.
