Canada: Newfoundland & Labrador’s New Public Procurement Act

On December 14, 2016, Bill 46 and the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Procurement Act became law. The new Act isn't yet in effect, however, and the NL government indicates it will implement it in several phases (though this is only an estimated timeline and is subject to change): The parts of the Act creating the new Public Procurement Agency and Chief Procurement Officer will be dealt with sometime in early 2017. The government will then prepare the regulations, expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2017.
