“Miloda”, Sri Lanka joins hands with Procurement iNET to launch CPPP


The World Bank entered into a memorandum of understanding with Miloda, Academy of Financial studies, the training arm of Ministry of Finance, Sri Lanka, to launch joint certification of the Certificate Program in Public Procurement (CPPP), here in Colombo on Monday. Mr. Anura Lokuhetty, Co-CEO signed the MoU on behalf of Miloda and Mr. Haider Raza, Country Focal Point for Procurement in the World Bank Sri Lanka country office in the presence of Hon. Mr. Ravi Karunanayake, Minister ofFinance, Prof. Danny Atapattu, Chairman Miloda from Govt of Sri Lanka and Ms Roland Pryce, Operations Advisor, from the World Bank.


The Certificate Program in Public Procurement, offered through Procurement Learning, a World Bank powered platform, was launched in 2013 with a global initiative to provide online training in public procurement. The program saw massive success in a short time of 2 years with more than 50,000 members registering from 190 countries. Apart from English, the course is also launched in Russian and Hindi, with additional language versions of Arabic, French,Portuguese and Spanish, being launched soon.


“Miloda,” Academy of Financial Studies (AFS) was established in 2013as the training arm of the Ministry of Finance with a view to promote the Capacity Building of the staff of the Ministry of Finance and the other organizations under its purview.


The above agreement between World Bank and Miloda academy of financial studies enables joint certification of CPPP to the members enrolling in the course from SriLanka. This event coincides with the launch of Miloda’s official website ( www.afs.gov.lk ) under the Ministry of Finance.
